On the north west coast is the picturesque harbour town of Yarmouth, the oldest town on the Island. This bustling town has grown up as a result of its natural harbour, guarded by Yarmouth Castle. The town has a varied range of shops, delightful eating establishments and a unique 700ft long timber pier dating back to 1876.

With accessible coastline either side of the Yarmouth you are never too far from a beach for a family day out. Alternatively it's a popular destination for fishing, with day trips out to The Solent available throughout the year. Or for walkers, there is also the former railway track now a woodland walk which traces the banks of the Yar towards Freshwater, a easy level route for all abilities.
