Whippingham holiday cottages
Whippingham is best known for its connections with Queen Victoria, especially its church, which was redesigned by Prince Albert to be reminiscent of a castle on the Rhine, with five soaring pinnacles. Inside, there are brilliant rose windows and a large octagonal lantern in the centre.
The village became the centre of the royal estate supporting Osborne House and Barton Manor. The farms, school, forge and cottages were rebuilt when they became part of the Queen's estate and Prince Albert had a 'model farm' built at Barton. It is also the home to The Folly Inn, a popular pub on the edge of the river.
