The north of the Isle of Wight has a strong focus on sailing, amongst other watersports. Cowes hosts an annual week long sailing regatta which attracts visitors from around the world. Alongside plenty of sailing, you’ll find restaurants, shops and cafes in the town to suit every taste or interest. There are some lovely restaurants to enjoy with your family or boutique eateries to celebrate with a loved one. For more choice head to the town of Gurnard and visit Little Gloster. This place is renowned on the island for tasty breakfasts and beautiful dinners. Across the River Medina from Cowes, you’ll find her quieter sister, East Cowes. You can easily get between the two via the river ferry which you can use on foot, cycling or by car. East Cowes is the home to Queen Victoria’s Osborne House and offers up serene views of the river. Further south you’ll find the village of Whippingham. Best known for it’s delicately designed church and the Folly Inn, a pub on the edge of the river.
