Freshwater Bay, the home of Alfred Lord Tennyson, is a small hamlet on the West of the Island and forms a stunning part of the south coast of the Island, with its rugged white cliff. With it's pebble beach, it is a great place to watch the waves break or the intrepid surfers testing their skills! It also boasts an 18 hole golf course offering golf with panoramic views of the Solent and the English Channel.

With easy access to the coastal path in either direction, it is also a great base for walkers. Tennyson Down rises above Freshwater and is worth the steep walk up as the views from here are nothing short of spectacular, not forgetting the Tennyson monument, a striking granite cross, which can be found at the top of the downs.
