Steephill Cove - A Hidden Treasure
Penned on the 4th November 2011
Arguably one of the the prettiest places on the Isle of Wight, Steephill Cove is situated just south of the Victorian seaside town of Ventnor, a traditional Holiday destination.
Often likened to the hidden coves of Cornwall, and the Mediterranean, the cove is a hidden gem of tranquillity and tradition with only a handful of cottages, brightly coloured canopied deckchairs, beach huts, lobster pots and fisherman's cottages.
The Cove's resident fishermen provide fresh crab and lobster, brought ashore daily and served at the Cove's wonderful Boathouse Restaurant, and the Crab Shed. There is also a café for teas, coffee and cakes (open Easter-October).
Surrounding the Cove are beautiful coastal walks and to the north are the Victorian Botanic Gardens which contain rare plants from all over the world.
We have a great selection of holiday cottages in the area.
