We’re big lovers of Island Food and try to promote Island produce and great places to eat across the Island as much as possible, which is why we’re very excited to have recently been involved in helping produce a new book by a local author, titled ‘The Isle of Wight Feast of Food and Drink’.
This book celebrates the wealth of artisanal food and drink produced on the Isle of Wight. This culinary odyssey is developed through nine scenarios that reflect the Island’s pleasurable, healthy lifestyle – renowned for sailing, walking and festival-going as well as its natural beauty – and offer a flavour of the changing seasons. Each comprises a menu of dishes for the occasion, with easily accomplished yet imaginative recipes that make the most of the Island’s wonderful local produce, together with foods that can be safely and rewardingly foraged. There are always vegetarian and sometimes vegan alternatives, as well as dairy- and gluten-free variations.
All of the photography featured in the book is by renowned local photographer Ben Wood, whose work you may recognise from our own website and property portfolio. You can even see one of our properties featured in the book.
A delightful book to keep and to give, for Islander cooks and self-catering visitors alike, full of new recipes for famous foodstuffs and hidden Island delights.
